Description:

The primary purpose of this Consulting Associate role with ERM’s Corporate Sustainability team in Northern Europe is to provide research, analysis and advice for sustainability strategy and disclosure engagements with the world’s leading organisations.
The Position
Due to growth in demand for our corporate sustainability services – sustainability strategy and disclosure - there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, early career individual to join our corporate sustainability consultancy team.

The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team, supporting ERM’s client organisations on a range of challenges related to sustainability, including, but not limited to:

  • Sustainability/ESG diagnostics
  • Peer benchmarking
  • Sustainability strategy development, including materiality assessment and goal setting
  • Internal engagement
  • External engagement
  • Sustainability reporting and disclosure

Our role as a consultant is to help our clients to achieve their sustainable development objectives, and to help inform, set and manage their sustainability strategies.
The team interacts continually with ERM’s other practice areas, and in particular the successful candidate will work closely with the rest of the corporate sustainability team, with the opportunity to assist clients in areas such as: climate change, transactional due diligence, environmental and social impact assessment, risk management, EHS performance management and assurance. Together, we deliver value-added services to ERM’s international client base.

CORE SKILLS

Technical knowledge

  • Relevant degrees in public policy, international relations, economics, business, environmental studies or a related field
  • Conduct high-quality corporate sustainability research and analysis and create deliverables (reports, presentations, etc.) addressing a range of issues and industries.
  • Track sources, through monitoring, and synthesise key trends and developments that are shaping the sustainable development agenda into bespoke research products.
  • Create written presentations and reports of work that will be used in client settings.
  • Think critically and strategically helping to influence decision-makers and outcomes.
  • Help prepare and take notes on interviews with clients, research partners and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development of materials for workshops, client meetings and stakeholder engagement.
  • Use and apply our methodologies as well as able to proactively identify and suggest suitable methodologies, and articulate why they are the preferred method both internally and to clients.
  • Good awareness / appreciation of:
  • Developments in external sustainability environment from experts/organisations.
  • Emerging legislation and additional drivers for our clients taking action.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to distil large amounts of information into what matters most.
  • Ability to manage/deliver multiple projects/tasks in parallel with different requirements and timelines.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills.
  • Good technical writing skills and ability to synthesise reports to a very high standard.
  • Some business development/proposal writing experience desirable.
  • Strong Excel capabilities desirable – advanced functionality and the ability to build complex tools, with the willingness and ability to further upskill.

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, through good report-writing skills and strong presentational skills.
