This is an outstanding opportunity for a director-level Environmental Assessment Project Manager looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM’s global strategy.

As a Senior Environmental Assessment Project Manager with experience leading regulatory and permitting projects, you will be equipped to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver proposals, EAs/EISs, permit applications, and associated management plans. This is an opportunity to utilize your established relationships with companies, along with your strong project management skills to successfully lead environmental assessments and permitting for large-scale capital projects. You will serve as a representative of our company, and play a key role building our business and winning new projects. This role will have an enhanced responsibility to support development and execution of our growth plans in the Power and Energy sectors including growing and leading our teams to delivery this work. Your big-picture understanding of our business, and ability to build strong client relationships based on trust and mutual benefit will be critical.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support development and execution of our annual commercial growth plans for Canada in the Power and Energy sectors
  • Drive excellence in client satisfaction through leadership of the power and energy sector delivery teams and growth of capacity in these teams across Canada
  • Work on multiple projects and serve as project manager to ensure deliverables achieve client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Drive preparation primarily of EAs/EISs, permit applications and associated management plans, lead environmental constraints analysis and develop plans to support construction implementation for power and energy projects across Canada.
  • Contribute to business development of ERM’s global impact assessment and planning service area. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of project management team.
  • Actively contribute to ERM’s project management technical community and collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute projects.

Who you are:

  • BSc or MSc in Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of consulting experience in impact assessment and permitting, specifically in the power and energy sector in western Canada.
  • Well-developed team building and influencing skills; unquestionable integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the provincial and federal regulatory agencies, Indigenous organizations, and the public. Understanding of key drivers within the power and energy sectors in western Canada. Experience as a project manager for environmental regulatory projects in Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Ontario is also an asset.
  • High degree of project management competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop/maintain long-term relationships with clients.
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management approaches/tools.
  • Ability to rise to the challenge in high pressure environments, managing diverse internal and external stakeholders, and becoming energized by a vibrant team of colleagues based across the country and the globe.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor collaborative teams, demonstrate ERM values and become a safety ambassador.

This is a full-time position. During peak activity, there will be some overtime required, and meetings with clients may not strictly happen between 9-5 as we work with clients in a variety of time zones.
