We’re looking for a Content Designer to join our Food Ecommerce team, part of our Digital Products & Design team in Manchester. You’ll help shape our wide range of digital products and services, working closely with design, product, delivery, and engineering colleagues. We’ll also look to you to create accessible and engaging content based on user behaviour, data, and research. In this role you’ll work in a hybrid way – splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

WHY CO-OP?

If you’ve got the skills and experience we’re looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You’ll also get:

  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Grocery Aid – 24/7 access to a range of emotional, financial, and practical support services for you and your family

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business to create relevant, accessible, and engaging content that meets user needs
  • Plan and facilitate content reviews to improve content-related decision making
  • Monitor the performance of content and identify improvement opportunities
  • Take part in online and in-person research sessions to identify user needs
  • Contribute to our community of practice sessions to share your knowledge and experience with the wider digital team
  • Champion the principles of good content design across Co-op

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO HAVE

  • Experience in a Digital Content Designer or UX Writer role
  • Experience creating accessible content for an ecommerce website or mobile app
  • The ability to use content management systems and co-ordinate content production
  • A solid understanding of information architecture
  • Knowledge of how to balance search engine optimisation data with content design principles
  • Good relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Commercial awareness and experience measuring the impact of design
  • Examples of previous content design work (you’ll be asked to talk through this at interview stage)
We know that some candidates are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t meet all the criteria in the job description. At Co-op, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive working environment, so if you’d like to apply for this role but your experience doesn’t quite meet every point, we’d still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for the job or other roles we have available.
