Description:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (such as Communications, Marketing, Languages, etc.) is preferred;
  • Two (2) years of work experience in developing content for a high-traffic web property;
  • One (1) year experience collaborating with a community of authors;
  • One (1) year of experience using various multimedia design tools (i.e., Canva, After Effects, etc.);
  • Skilled in writing persuasive copy;
  • Ability to source engaging digital assets;
  • Capable of creating simple storyboards for videos;
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices for web content;
  • Knowledge of web accessibility legislation and best practices;
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Comfortable working with analytical tools and data;
  • Possess ability and willingness to learn new skills and software tools;
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects;
  • Knowledge of university community and the student lifecycle would be an asset; and
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.
    The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Strategy, the Content Strategist is responsible for developing and enhancing digital content at Laurentian University. This includes content across multiple mediums including websites, social media, email, and other communication vehicles. The Content Strategist will ensure that text, images, and videos featured in communications will positively contribute to organizational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Developing new content for use on the web;
  • Modifying existing content to align with goals and communicate key messages more effectively;
  • Supporting content authors around campus by providing guidance and training;
  • Working collaboratively with departments across campus to collect feedback and develop content;
  • Completing website audits for all key pages of Laurentian.ca;
  • Supporting the implementation of Laurentian University’s web strategy;
  • Supporting digital advertising campaigns on web and social media;
  • Generating reports and analyzing key metrics to optimize effectiveness;
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for ongoing management of content; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
