ABOUT US
The Western Communications team provides strategic advice to university senior leadership, faculty, staff and teams of internal and external communications staff across Western in order to build the university’s brand on a local, national and global scale.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree; with a major in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or related program, coupled with 5 years’ experience in advancement communications, with responsibility for supporting alumni relations and development projects at various fundraising levels.
You have in-depth knowledge of principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument, and coherence, coupled with proven skills and abilities working in alumni relations and development and fundraising communications (i.e., strategy development, project management, writing, interviewing, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Advancement Marketing and with leadership from the Executive Director, Advancement Communications and Marketing, the Content Writer supports Western Communications and University Advancement in the creation of a full range of marketing and communications materials for a variety of fundraising activities, campaigns and projects. The role will develop, write and produce communication products that share Western’s story, highlighting the University’s priorities, successes, and philanthropic news. All aspects of donor communications will be delivered in support of faculty-specific and university-wide fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
The role will plan and develop clear and concise content that is both informative and compelling to inspire and generate philanthropic support for projects that align with the goals of the Advancement Marketing and University Advancement teams and Western University. Materials will be designed for a range of internal and external audiences, including new and existing donors and friends of Western, alumni, faculty and staff, and parents. This specialist will play a vital role in enabling the University to achieve its fundraising goals and build strong, positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
