Responsibilities:

PlanIt is part of the wider Twinkl product in an established New Zealand market. PlanIt is written specifically to provide sequential, fully planned and developed units of learning that closely align with the New Zealand curriculum. Each lesson pack provides solid building blocks to develop knowledge, skills and concepts so that any teacher can teach with confidence.
You’ll be working alongside other passionate professionals working flexibly to write content for Twinkl’s PlanIt Maths product, specifically for Year 4-6.
You will be creating new PlanIt Maths resources and sometimes adapting existing Twinkl resources, for primary-aged children that inspire learning, helping us to deliver high-quality materials to children and teachers in New Zealand. These resources will include PowerPoints, display materials, differentiated follow-up activities, activity sheets, assessments and lesson plans.
Using your recent teaching experience and up-to-date knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum (both the old and refreshed maths curriculums), you will ensure that resources are innovative, accurate, well-written, suitable for the target year group and that the materials provide the correct levels of challenge and support.
You’ll be a fantastic communicator, working collaboratively in agile development teams, which include other Content Writers, Content Editors, Graphic Designers and Illustrators.
This role is a work-from-home, flexible position, and working hours can be agreed upon between you and your line manager to fit around your current commitments. Meetings will be conducted online via Google Meet.

How you will spend your week:

  • undergoing training for the first few weeks to understand all aspects of your new role;
  • meeting with other Twinkl writers to develop resources;
  • responding to and implementing feedback from our Content Editors;
  • writing content for PlanIt Maths that fits the New Zealand market;
  • attending one evening meeting/stand-up each week to update the team on your progress, raise issues and ask for support from your teammates;
  • attending ad-hoc meetings with your trainer, buddy and line manager as needed;
  • engaging with your teammates and contributing to the fun, supportive culture of our NZ team.

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • have excellent spelling, punctuation and grammar skills;
  • thrive working in a change-focused and dynamic environment;
  • be computer literate, with experience using MS Office (particularly Word and PowerPoint) or the Google Suite (particularly Docs and Slides);
  • be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;
  • be focused on collaboration, using feedback to make our resources the best they can be;
  • have detailed knowledge of the primary curriculum specialising in Year 4-6 (both old and refreshed maths curriculums);
  • have an excellent understanding of the needs of teachers working in the primary maths curriculum and support staff delivering learning within the classroom or at home.

In this role, you will learn:

  • how to create new teacher content for our New Zealand PlanIt Maths team, from the ideation stage to publication on the site;
  • how to use and understand the digital platforms that we use every day
  • how to collaborate remotely, working closely with team members across this market;
  • how to develop greater commercial awareness so we can understand the needs of those we want to help.

You’ll work with:

  • our other New Zealand teachers working on the PlanIt team as Content Writers and Editors;
  • a fellow team member who will provide support as your ‘buddy’ for your first couple of months;
  • our team Designers and Illustrators;
  • your Team Leader;
  • the New Zealand Country Manager and the PlanIt Product Owner.

We are especially interested in anyone who also meets one or a combination of the following:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience, currently teaching or classroom teaching within the last 12 months

In return for everything you can bring, we can offer you an exciting role in a fast-growing and dynamic business and the opportunity to work with a fantastic, supportive team.
