ABOUT US:

The Shoreline is a luxury aged care facility on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The precinct boasts a fresh, resort-like atmosphere and a focus on high quality care of our aged residents and building a community in the superb beach side location where we live and work. In operation for just over a year, The Shoreline is retirement living and premium residential aged care all packaged in to one breathtaking coastal site. The care facility is located within the village of luxury units and villas and is a stone’s throw away from a major shopping centre, beautiful beaches, and restaurants. We are a breath of fresh air in the region, bringing the most modern-day practices to the forefront of our residents ageing experience.

High level knowledge of Continence Management, supported by relevant training and/or study

  • High level communication skills including report writing and experience in writing procedures
  • Ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment and to communicate effectively with management, staff, and stakeholders, including medical and allied health professionals
  • Highly developed organisational skills and ability to determine work priorities
  • Understanding of the ageing process and a commitment to advocate for older people in residential care
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software and other desktop applications to an intermediate level
  • Police check clearanc

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Continence Coordinator is responsible for the ordering and dispersal of resident continence aids and other clinical supplies in line with care requirements. This person will be familiar with the needs of the elderly and confident in communicating with more senior clinical staff to ensure the facility had adequate stock of required items.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  1. Source and purchase materials, goods, and services for the clinical space
  2. Responsible for creating and maintaining relationship with new and existing suppliers
  3. Monitoring and maintaining clinical stocks
  4. In collaboration with management, evaluating suppliers before making purchasing decisions, negotiating terms and pricing
  5. Tracking orders
  6. Provide delivery of accountable and responsible person-centred care that reflects current standards of nursing practices and consistent with The Shoreline’s policies and procedures.
  7. Maintain current knowledge and clinical proficiency in care, in accordance with best practice, legal and professional standards
  8. Assist care and clinical staff with the coordination and delivery of continence services, together with the management of resident supplies
  9. Report to and collaborate with facility-based management (Director of Care & Deputy Directors of Care) to ensure the continence needs of residents are met.
  10. Meeting and liaising with suppliers to ensure appropriate products are utilised in order to maximise resident outcomes in the most cost-effective way.
  11. Utilise a problem-solving approach in order to assist with the provision of effective nursing care.
  12. Act as resident advocate by ensuring the rights, safety, privacy and confidentiality of residents is maintained.
  13. Foster harmonious and effective communication and relationships with all staff, residents, their families and other persons, as appropriate.
  14. Actively encourage and support each resident’s sense of independence and the exercise of choice, particularly with respect to continence needs.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ideally, be an Enrolled Nurse with unrestricted AHPRA registration, otherwise Certificate III or higher in Individual Support or Aged Care
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
