Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead is part of the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System. The CI Lead will facilitate implementation of the Business System at the site level. Execution of the PPI principles enable profitable growth, intensify customer centricity, and increase employee engagement. The CI Lead will collaborate with key business partners and PPI specialists to monitor key performance metrics, identify improvement projects, and deploy structured problem solving to improve systems/eliminate waste. Another responsibility of the CI lead is to develop the capability of the PPI team by providing training and mentorship.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, operations or business
  • 5+ years experience in GMP environment
  • Green Belt certification required
  • Black Belt certification preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Continuous Improvement professional with 5+ years of experience in a continuous improvement role.
  • Subject matter authority in the following tools: Value stream mapping, visual management/5S, Kanban, standard work/leader standard work, metric tracking, gemba, performance management stand-up meetings, and project funnel development.
  • Experience in problem-solving through a formal methodology.
  • Experience leading multiple cross-functional team projects at once with responsibility for results.
  • Demonstrated success with implementation of process improvement initiative and reported productivity savings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal communication with the ability to collaborate and work across a heavily matrixed environment and at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • A strong change agent and good leader in demonstrating and promoting change
  • Good project management skills.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for driving improvement and leading change in both non-operational and operational areas
  • Excellent Financial Competence

The Practical Process Improvement team enables a continuous improvement mindset across the business by leading education of and utilization of the PPI Business System.

  • Establish and mature the Lean Management System (tiered daily performance management systems, gemba walks, leader standard work, and additional tools for continuous improvement.
  • Provide project traceability, pipeline building, and productivity tracking/reporting.
  • Partner with Finance personnel to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported PPI benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of PPI savings.
  • Coach and mentor PPI Specialists by providing structured training and hands on coaching of lean principles/tools.
  • Establish site level training program to develop site Change Champions.
  • Participate and/or facilitate yearly Strategy Planning.
  • Govern daily performance management coaching
