Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement (C.I.) Specialist is a key role in the company to implement the lean roadmap of EQI Canada. As the key C.I. specialist, the candidates will set up CI standards, develop a continuous improvement plan, deliver lean training, and execute the implementation of continuous improvement activities.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will collaborate with the management team to create continuous improvement culture, define key C.I. initiatives and develop expertise for key lean tools within the company. Additionally, the C.I. specialist may be involved in global collaborative C.I projects supporting EQI’s global manufacturing locations.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and improve manufacturing profitability through productivity improvement, waste reduction and safety improvement.
- Collect improvement ideas and discuss with management team to define key improvement projects and initiatives.
- Lead data collection, summary and analysis in a systematic way, use DMAIC tool to improve manufacturing performance, support problem solving activities
- Set up shopfloor 5S and visualization standard, deliver training to related staff, guide the implementation, and ensure sustainability.
- Design and improve shopfloor meetings to support efficient communication and effective actions tracking.
- Improve the material flow and information flow and reduce WIP in production area and warehouse by applying Kanban methodologies.
- Lead or coordinate CI related audit, 5S audit, Kanban audit, shopfloor meeting audit, and provide audit report with improvement suggestions or requirement.
- Monitor shopfloor performance with production manager, identify gaps vs. known standards and track improvement actions.
- Support engineering department and production to improve changeover efficiency with SMED method.
- Plan and set up key lean tools owner and support their capability development.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field.
Familiar with MS office software. Advance skills in Excel, data analysis and workflow design.
Experience of key lean tools by creating Value Stream Maps, executing Kaizen to implement, 5S, Kanban, SMED &
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently; including ability to assess and manage priorities.
Basic understanding / familiarity with ISO & IATF requirements
Six Sigma Green Belt Certifications preferred.
Familiar with machining process and equipment will be a plu
