Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
We’re looking for a Continuous Improvement (TPS) Specialist to design, develop, implement and maintain programs or TPS systems that have functional impact to the operations team. This Specialist is accountable to develop, implement and sustain process improvement initiatives utilizing Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies to deliver long-term, breakthrough results in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity. You will be responsible for driving process improvement initiatives for current methods/processes and implement plans for improvement throughout the organization
Responsibilities:
- Use established procedures and work under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks.
- Complete work that consists of both routine and somewhat more difficult assignments, which require independent evaluation, original thinking, or ingenuity.
- Provide technical information to others and may have limited responsibility for direction of others.
- Apply Toyota Production System (TPS) tools such as A3, material and information flow charts, standardized work charts and combination tables, line balancing charts (Yamazumi), 5S, lead-time maps, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), PDCA.
- Perform diverse assignments that include capturing current state activity, completing appropriate analysis, problem definition, and countermeasure proposal and implementation to improve key performance indicators related to manufacturing performance and material flow.
- Perform work that will be varied and may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility.
- Create close working relationships with each business area, execute daily continuous improvement and enable each business area to achieve its target performance objectives.
- Be a change agent: challenge organizational leaders to drive continuous improvements; remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement processes.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable engineering field, Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, carry out technical activities, as well as communicating effectively in various sizes of groups, both orally and in writing.
- Knows the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of TPS/Lean based manufacturing.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment so that acceptable and defined levels of performance are maintained.
- Should have a basis of industrial engineering coursework completed and possess the ability to put those skills to work on real world problems and solutions in a cross-functional team environment with experience specific to TPS/Lean in a manufacturing environment.
- Plans, coordinates and/or conducts highly complex continuous improvement projects or project segments leveraging TPS methodologies that typically have multi-department impact.
