Description:

Greenfield opportunity for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with experience of setting AWS cloud environments (ideally with an MSP) to be based in their central London offices 3 days per week. For a 6-month initial contract offering a day rate of £750-850 per day (outside IR35) for the right individual.
Our financial services client is seeking a cloud engineer on a 6-month contract (outside of IR35) to be based at their London office (3 days pw) to help build out some of their AWS stack from the ground up in collaboration with their Managed Service Provider (MSP). Their MSP will be generally managing the network and initial buildout of their AWS footprint, but everything else would be managed by our end client.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with AWS cloud services. Ideally has exposure at ground zero and helped build out firms (from the ground-up)
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or ideally Pulumi.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with serverless computing and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools for cloud-based applications.
  • Understanding of cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
  • Experience optimizing the cloud for hosting mobile applications.
  • Experience with designing and implementing IAM policies

Responsibilities:

  • Aid in the designing, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure to support the development and deployment of scalable and reliable financial applications.
  • Collaborate with our managed service provider and engineers to integrate cloud solutions into the overall service architecture, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Implement and optimize automation tools and processes for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and work proactively to identify and address potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Be proactive in understanding cloud costs and how costs can be attributed to the correct users
  • Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments, implementing best practices for identity and access management, data encryption, and network security.
