We are looking for a Contract Manager 4PL to be based at our site in Northampton (working remotely up to 3 days per week, subject to requirements). Flexibility is a requirement as you will be required to travel to Europe on a regular basis.
As a Contract Manager, you will lead key global pharmaceutical logistics contracts to ensure that operational efficiency, customer service and financial performance are met and exceeded for both the customer and Yusen Logistics. You will be responsible for delivering and maintaining strong relationships with customers as well as delivering a high-quality service that enhances Yusen Logistics’ reputation, therefore we are looking for someone with excellent knowledge and understanding of effective customer & supplier relationship management principles.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple projects, thus you must demonstrate experience of strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple contracts and projects at once.
Salary and Benefits:
£60,000- £65,000 per annum (DOE)

Key responsibilities:
- Relationship Management
- Engage with key customer stakeholders to maintain existing relationships and provide a platform for further organic growth
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual business reviews with customers, ensuring accurate information is presented and any remedial actions are understood and implemented
- Lead commercial negotiations for contractual renewals and annual reviews
- Key escalation point for customers, ensuring queries are managed in a professional and timely manner, and appropriate actions taken
- Engage with internal stakeholders to maintain existing relationships and provide a platform for good practice, sharing with team members and departments as appropriate
- Financial & Legal
- Manage Profit & Loss for customer accounts, ensuring budgetary targets are achieved, escalating any deviances as appropriate in a timely manner
- Managing financial data flows to strict deadlines to ensure accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts
- Approval of all cost and revenue elements, such as purchase orders and customer invoices in a timely manner
- Ensure customer charging and invoicing procedures are adhered to according to company procedure
- Oversee implementation of profit enhancing initiatives and actively seek to maximise cost savings
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all quality and compliance requirements are upheld by team and haulier partners, establishing any necessary corrective actions and escalating any potential breaches as appropriate
- Seek to develop and deploy best practice across contract
- Operations
- Work in collaboration with the EU Operations Manager to safeguard the Yusen position by ensuring delivery on expectations for quality, service and cost
- Act as an escalation point for major service issues as the contract owner, taking the lead in the event of contract issues
- Coordinate and influence internal resources to ensure that service is maintained, exceeding customer expectations in a proactive manner
- Continuous Improvement
- To own and coordinate the contract gainshare activities
- Achieve and exceed contractual targets across the contracts whilst maintaining service and quality levels
- Close interaction with the Digital Healthcare Control Tower (DHCT) team to ensure CI is being tracked and reported each month, both internally and to the customer
- Work closely with 4PL Operations team to ensure identification of initiatives are routinely sought
- Review cross-contract efficiencies and work with DHCT to propose initiatives that benefit both Yusen and the customer
Key requirements:
- Extensive overall logistics management experience, preferably in a 3/4PL pharmaceutical environment
- Proven ability in managing senior stakeholder customer relationships
- Proven ability in managing P&L
- Final mile experience is desirable
- Knowledge & understanding of effective customer & supplier relationship management principles
- Excellent presentation delivery skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Flexible and proactive approach
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office platforms including Excel; Word; PowerPoint
- This role will involve regular European travel, giving you the opportunity to visit and meet with the key customer stakeholders. The successful applicant may be required to spend up to 1 week away at a time and this may be at short notice.
