Your Opportunity
We have a permanent full time Contract Specialist opportunity in our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group.
The Infrastructure Planning and Delivery Group contributes to Urban Utilities’ purpose and vision and enhances the liveability of our communities through safeguarding financial and economic sustainability of the business, planning to meet the needs of our customers and management of the long-term water cycle and our environmental responsibilities.
Reporting to the Leader Commercial, the Contract Specialist develops a detailed understanding of their contracts, provides expert advice and support and identifies and rapidly resolves non-conformances to ensure all contractual obligations and expectations are achieved, relationships are maintained and enhanced, and work practices are efficient, aligned with peers and increasingly digitally enabled.

Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with Infrastructure Planning & Delivery leadership, portfolio managers, program managers and other internal clients, building effective working relationships and providing high-quality professional services.
  • Setup appropriate cost tracking structures to monitor contract, project and work order level; control expenditure in line with contract and project approval limits.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of each managed contract, variations and agreed interpretations / implementation including supporting the development of and applying any contract management plan.
  • Identify trends, summarize findings, and give feedback on existing contract performance, and provide as input to new contract processes for negotiations/renegotiations.
  • Monitor, review, and highlight any gaps in the performance of contractors to recommend and ensure delivery of improvements by suppliers or to renegotiate or change contract/supplier.

About You

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills, and experiences:

  • Experience in managing multiple major infrastructure design and delivery contracts.
  • Experience in performance analysis, assessing contractual KPIs and assessing complex claims, including transmittal of claims information.
  • Understanding of asset-based work breakdown structures and their application to project planning, forecasting and cost control.
  • Proven commercial experience in a senior role on Total Cost Estimate or Early Contractor Involvement framework delivery frameworks or similar collaborative contract models (ideal, not essential).
  • Knowledge and understanding of current direction and issues in the utility and allied industries.
  • Tertiary qualifications in administration and financial management, construction management, engineering, accounting or quality surveying or equivalent experience.
