Description:
OVERVIEW:
Contractor sales personnel are responsible for selling building materials to local contractors. Extensive knowledge of lumber and building materials is a requirement. As a contractor sales personnel the expectation is to build your customer base and maintain a high level of customer service to your contractors. Existing knowledge of building industry and building code regulations are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years’ minimum Sales experience
- Knowledgeable in the Home Improvement/Building Centre products
- Valid driver’s licence and means of transportation
- Computer literacy, Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, and CAD knowledge are an asset
- Excellent written & verbal skills
- Strong work ethic, sense of responsibility and attention to detail and confidentiality
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
Responsibilities:
- Maximize local network of tradespeople by building strong relations with the contractor in order to pursue new account growth and generate business leads.
- Maintains competitive market pricing to ensure success of sales and maintain company margin objectives
- Prepare estimates/quotes for the customer through our computer system
- Perform product layouts & calculations to provide the customer with the best option for the project that they are working on
- Make cold calls either over the phone or in person to prospective customers
- Keep current on competitors’ pricing
- Maintaining knowledge of marketplace dynamics including new suppliers and products, and informing our customers of changes.
- Ensure paperwork and delivery documents are properly executed
- Achieve sales plan with month to month budget review
- Collaborate with all appropriate departments to meet and exceed sales goals
- Work with credit department and potential customers to establish appropriate credit limits, and follow through in order to reduce liability to the organization
