Do you have a solid understanding of contracting processes and a desire to gain expertise in contract law and compliance? Are you interested in drafting and reviewing a variety of legal documents, including contracts and agreements? Our new Contract Administrator II will support the Contracts Supervisor and Administrator IV, working to create contract drafts, modifications, and final versions for vendor signatures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
This is an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring contracts are comprehensive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. In this position, you will increase your knowledge, becoming an expert on compliance with contract terms, researching and reviewing drafts for statutes, rules, regulations, and policies, and creating legal documents that fairly represent all stakeholders.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents, with the ability to provide specific examples of accessibility improvements made.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the Colorado procurement rules, fiscal rules, and contracting laws and policies; experience with Colorado Resource Operations Engine (CORE) or a similar web-based financial system.
An understanding of government procurement at the state or federal level.
- Experience with Contract Management System (CMS) or a similar web-based database system.
- Some experience with/exposure to Federal grant funding.
Conditions of Employment:
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and review contracts for goods and services across various sectors (IT, federal, construction, intergovernmental).
- Ensure contract compliance with procurement rules, fiscal regulations, and accessibility requirements.
- Collaborate with senior contract specialists to improve processes, create templates, and address contract compliance issues.
- Assist in interpreting contract terms for internal teams and external contractors.
- Conduct audits on contracts and ensure contractor performance aligns with contractual terms.
- Support the creation and modification of statutes, rules, and policies as they apply to contracts.
