Reporting to the Senior Director, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for the administration, negotiation, and management of contracts on major civil infrastructure projects. This role requires a highly skilled contracts professional with a strong background in civil infrastructure, excellent communication skills, and extensive experience managing complex contractual arrangements to ensure successful project delivery and compliance.
This position is located in downtown Toronto

What you’ll be working on

  • Lead contract negotiation, administration, and management for large civil infrastructure projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Draft, review, and finalize contracts, including construction, procurement, and subcontractor agreements, to mitigate risk and protect company interests.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all contract-related communications with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Develop and implement contract management processes, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
  • Analyze and assess contractual risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation to project leadership.
  • Manage contract changes, claims, and dispute resolution in collaboration with project stakeholders to ensure timely resolution and alignment with project objectives.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of contract deliverables, timelines, payments, and key milestones, providing updates to senior management as required.
  • Oversee contract close-out processes, ensuring all contractual requirements are fulfilled and documentation is complete for final project handover.
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams on contractual obligations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support the development and improvement of contract templates, terms, and conditions to ensure consistency across projects and mitigate future risks.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in contract management, ideally within large-scale civil infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Professional certifications such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CCCM (Certified Commercial Contracts Manager) preferred.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and tools
  • Extensive experience negotiating and managing contracts, including claims, change orders, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of construction law, commercial terms, and industry regulations specific to civil infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels.
