ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Decommissioning Unit delivers a range of high risk/ high value, outcome-based reward projects with innovative commercial arrangements or projects requiring a major/complex programme management skill set.
Operating within the Decommissioning Business Unit, the PPP framework is a portfolio of complex construction projects with a potential value of £7bn to be undertaken across a 20-year timescale in support of the Sellafield decommissioning programme.
We are now seeking an experienced Contract Manager, with Quantity Surveying background. This position will be based in one of our offices in Birchwood Park or Cumbria. Candidates based in other locations, who are willing to travel when required, will also be considered.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role requires a Contract Manager with a Quantity Surveying background. It will be day-to-day based within one or multiple project(s) within one of our major nuclear Client programmes. There is a requirement to work from our Client premises as & when required, from Jacobs offices, & home working. This role will report to the Jacobs Commercial Lead.
The Contract Manager would be responsible for supporting the Project(s) in delivering the Contract Administration and maintaining the relationship with the Project(s) and Subcontractors, for the relevant contracts.
The Contracts will be managed in accordance with Jacobs and Client Management systems and governance. The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance to procedures and contractual terms and conditions to secure delivery with certainty. It will have key interface with Project(s), Jacobs Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Resourcing and Security Teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Administration and managing Sub-contractor relationships to deliver the contact requirements.
  • Chairing regular meetings with Sub-contractors, measurement and control cycle, track spending on SSJ’s and PO’s, incentivisation arrangements and value allocation, process cost increases and uplifts, auditing, movement of personnel, etc.
  • Ensure all contractual, governance and compliance processes and requirements for Jacobs and Client are adhered to.
  • Manage Sub-contractor supplier accounts, financially and contractually, to secure full entitlements under the contract.
  • Able to manage and effectively monitor Sub-contractors with little supervision.
  • Provide support to the Project(s) teams on contract requirements with attendance at Project meetings.
  • Ensure Applications for Payments and invoices are timely and correct and any other commercial issues are resolved.
  • Complete & control all the relevant contract administration documentation and registers.
  • Ability to interface & collaborate effectively with Project, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Resourcing, and Security teams.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or other relevant qualification and previous working experience in a similar role within a secure and regulated industry. Preferably from a nuclear, civils, construction, engineering, background.
  • Working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation (for example, RICS/CIOB/CIPS).
  • Experience in the Contract Management of Sub-contractors on large complex projects.
  • Good commercial awareness with both pre and post contract knowledge.
  • Comprehensive understanding cost forecasting and reporting, cost control, cost risk management, contract management, contract administration and compliance (including, Early Warning, Compensation Events, Applications for Payment, etc.).
  • Good working knowledge of the NEC4 suite of contracts specifically as well as contract management tools such as CEMAR.
