POSITION DESCRIPTION
Working closely with other Legal Services team members, this role will provide contracting support to a portfolio of clients within the SickKids Research Institute.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience in understanding, interpreting and drafting legal contracts
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret legal clauses and clarify associated risks for clients
- Ability to handle and prioritize a high volume of matters simultaneously
- Efficiently able to communicate, write, edit, research, analyze, negotiate and problem solve
- Proficient in examining details and weighing risk without losing sight of the overall objectives of the parties involved
- Ability to consistently apply principles and policies to novel situations
- A customer service oriented, highly organized, motivated, independent, and productive individual who genuinely cares about scientific research
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include reviewing, negotiating and administering a high volume of health/scientific research-related research agreements and proposals with granting agencies, collaborating institutions, research consortia, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies and Contract Research Organizations (CROs). This includes sub-site agreements, material transfer agreements (MTAs), confidentiality agreements (CDAs), data transfer agreements (DTAs), and other agreements for which a standard template/SOP has been established. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a busy client environment, while proactively seeking and receiving support/direction from the existing Legal Services team.
