OUR VACANCY
We are currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Control Engineer to join our dedicated Electrical Operations team. If you have expertise in electricity distribution and are passionate about ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical networks, this could be the perfect role for you!
THE PERSON:
We are looking for a highly skilled individual with significant experience in electricity distribution and a deep understanding of the regulatory and safety frameworks governing the industry. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working on complex electrical networks and will be capable of providing expert technical advice.
You should also have:
- Several years of experience in the delivery, operation, and management of electricity distribution networks (up to 33kV or above).
- A thorough knowledge of the Distribution Safety Rules, electricity industry standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage safety switching and provide technical leadership to teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across different teams and departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of an ONC or equivalent qualification, with an HNC highly desirable.
- Experience working on Low and High Voltage systems as an Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person, or as a Control Engineer on electricity distribution systems.
Responsibilities:
As a Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the day-to-day control and continuity of our Electrical projects. Your primary focus will be ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and the company’s Advanced Utility Networks Standards.
You will also:
- Check and approve switching schedules, from Low Voltage (LV) to Extra High Voltage (EHV).
- Submit requests for supply interruptions in coordination with asset adoption partners.
- Support the appointment and authorisation of personnel working on the network.
- Perform on-site assessments of staff, including Trainees, to ensure competency and safety.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to field operators and office-based teams.
- Conduct incident investigations, carry out root cause analyses, and help develop procedures to drive continuous improvement.
- Assist with SAP duties under the Distribution Safety Rules when required.
