Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Control Management Director to join the Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology Control Management team.
The leader will be responsible for executing key risk management priorities and programs leading risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies, and managing a team of professionals that perform day-to-day risk and control activities in support of Financial Crimes Risk Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of Risk Management or Business Controls experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong experience in Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking, technology and business control management
  • Outstanding executive communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of presenting to senior leaders and to management committees
  • Front-line risk and controls experience, including overseeing/driving development of controls and management information (i.e., dashboards and workflow) and risk prioritization and enterprise program implementation
  • Proven experience designing efficient control frameworks across complex and multijurisdictional regulatory frameworks and engagement with regulatory agencies
  • Substantial experience executing risk management programs, particularly operational risk programs (e.g., issue management and RCSA) and managing compliance and conduct risks
  • Strong judgment and confidence in decision-making in support of management risk tolerance in response to real-time situations, including conflict resolution and application of corporate values
  • Collaborator and team player, able to translate prior business knowledge and experience into strong and productive relationships internally and externally to achieve goals and meet responsibilities
  • Self-starter with a working knowledge of risk management fundamentals and translation of policy into operational controls
  • Strong understanding of expected compliance risk and/or regulatory risk management controls across a variety of complex businesses
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work as a member of a broader team, and ability to adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to actively lead projects/discussions, work through problems and reach decisions that are in the best interest of the function and the Company

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team with a strong working knowledge of Corporate Risk Management and key risks and controls that apply to the function. To serve as the primary day-to-day risk and control contacts with proven knowledge of services, processes, systems, and customers in the function
  • Continuously engage in discussions with LOB partners on strategy, industry trends, organizational changes, and new/modified market opportunities, systems, and services to determine impact and identify and remediate risk and control issues across all risk types
  • Serve as an escalation point for all Risk and Control issues across FCRM and be the central point of contact for Corporate Risk Control Programs and ensure consistency across Corporate Risk’s multiple regulatory commitments
  • Counsel functional leaders on risk and control issues including corrective action/deliverable completion, and validation preparedness
  • Participate in Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) through detailed risk and control evaluations to meet all program requirements
  • Lead the team to document and assess operational risk Issues using methods such as root cause analysis. Consult with the function to develop corrective action plans. Oversee implementation progress and conduct validation efforts as required across the Issue Management Lifecycle.
  • Record Incidents/losses in the system of record, as applicable
  • Establish and update regular risk reports for communication of risk ratings, issues and key topics to key stakeholders and relevant Governance Committees
  • Work with the function and support teams on projects and initiatives to provide operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and platform initiatives, considering impacts to risk & control framework
  • Act as the key point of contact for senior leaders in Corporate Risk, Enterprise Functions Control Management, IRM, Wells Fargo Audit, regulators, and other constituents; ensure that all inquiries are responded to appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Lead the team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them
  • Support consistent execution of Business Control Management responsibilities in alignment with the Control Management target operating model
  • Contribute to cross-Control Management coordination of BSA/AML transformation activities
