This post doc position may involve advanced cyber-physical modeling and algorithm development, large area power systems modeling and controller design, advanced conductor testing (thermal-mechanical, electrical, and controls), and dynamic modeling of power system technologies.
You are expected to be a strong asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and work both alone and as a team member. The position entails writing scientific manuscripts for journal publication, and presentation of research results at national and international conferences and meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in control systems engineering, electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or comparable discipline. An interdisciplinary background in electrical engineering/structural dynamics or electrical engineering/mechanical engineering is sought after.
  • Degree requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the past 5 years.
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year experience with power system modeling and solvers: PowerWorld, PSSE, RSCAD, OpalRT, etc.
  • Familiarly with various power grid studies: load flow, arc flash, contingency analysis, etc.
  • Experience automating simulations.
  • Background in signal processing.
  • 1 year proficiency in python or C programming.
