Description:
The Pharmacy team is looking to appoint to the newly created role of Controlled Drugs Management Technician and Deputy Dispensary Manager.
This is a brand new role and therefore an exciting opportunity for a registered Pharmacy Technician looking to progress in their career and make their mark.
Under the direction of the Medication Safety Officer & Deputy Chief Pharmacist and in conjunction with the Dispensary Manager, the successful candidate will take a lead in managing the supply, security and use of Controlled Drugs and controlled stationary to Trust Wards and Departments. The post holder will be a part of the senior Pharmacy Technician team, ensuring compliance with CD licenses and legislation in the dispensary and on wards, involved in Controlled Drugs governance including investigating incidents, reporting and follow up, monitoring, audit, training and guideline development.
The post holder will deputise for the Dispensary Manager and be a senior lead in the Dispensary, carrying out final accuracy checking as an ACPT.
We provide the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills further through our in-house development programme, supported by a friendly and experienced team.
Working patterns will include some late standby shifts, weekend and bank holiday working, and you will be required to participate in the on-call Pharmacy Technician rota.
This is a full-time, permanent post.
To support and manage the efficient day to day operation of Controlled Drugs supply to wards and departments.
Lead, support and manage the safe and secure environment of Controlled Drugs in the dispensary and at ward level.
To deliver and contribute to the education and training strategy for Trust wide staff in relation to Controlled Drugs.
To collect and analyse data to support Controlled Drugs service development and maintenance.
To work with the pharmacy senior management team to develop innovative and forward-thinking service projects to improve compliance and Controlled Drug service at our Trust.
To line manage relevant staff
To deputise for the Dispensary Manager including rota production, work flow analysis and staff management.
To carry out general dispensing, distribution and associated pharmaceutical duties for the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
Implement policies and procedures and propose changes to working practices to impact on other areas.
To assist department management by supporting and developing pharmacy governance systems
To work as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.
