WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking for a dynamic Controller who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s financial activities, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This role involves strategic planning, financial reporting, compliance, and team leadership. As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller provides critical financial insights to support decision-making and drive the company’s financial health and growth, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and saving lives worldwide.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Formal Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation required.
Work Experience:
- 7+ years of senior-level accounting or financial management experience.
- Experience with tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining processes.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibits personal values that strongly align with the company’s vision, values, and culture, contributing to a positive team environment.
The starting salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Our salary structure is aligned with market standards and is finalized considering factors such as job-related expertise, skills, education, and experience.
Please note that this position is only available to candidates who are authorized to work in Canada, and local hybrid candidates are preferred.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s goals.
- Provide financial insights and advice to the CEO and senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to improve financial performance, increase profitability, and optimize cash flow.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Build and maintain financial models to support business strategies and decision-making.
- Analyze financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP and/or IFRS) and company policies.
- Support external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assist with preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, GST/PST remittances, and other required filings.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure adherence to evolving requirements.
Accounting Operations
- Manage and oversee the company’s accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Oversee cashflow planning and management to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions.
- Implement and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising growth initiatives.
- Oversight of insurance applications and contract management database.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to achieve organizational goals.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Process Improvement and System Optimization
- Identify and implement process enhancements to streamline financial operations and increase efficiency.
- Leverage financial systems and technology to support business scalability and accuracy.
- Establish and update financial policies and procedures to ensure best practices.
