The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, quarterly financial statements and analysis.
  • Reports to and works closely with the CFO.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversees and prepares documentation for trust activities sufficient to comply with state regulations.
  • Responsible for the production of accurate, timely financial statements including line of business.
  • Provides quarterly financial analysis including each line of business.
  • Oversee and prepare workpapers and reconciliations to support financial reports.
  • Oversee revenue and expense allocations to support line of business reporting.
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Responsible for monthly sales tax returns.
  • Understand accounting implications in industry specific software and integration into accounting software.
  • Oversees preparation of income tax workpapers.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Reports to and works closely with the CFO.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with sounds organizational skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities but also be deadline oriented.
  • Willingness to be a part of a team performing whatever duties are necessary to complete the task at hand.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
