What you’ll do
Based in Aberdeen, Scotland the Energy Services Europe/Africa (EA) Controller will manage the EA Accounting team to ensure a timely and accurate monthly close process in accordance with US GAAP as well as local statutory regulations. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance - Energy Services (based in US), the EA Controller will serve as a liaison between Corporate and the EA Area, continuously striving to improve processes and controls and ensure consistent excellence in all regions. The EA Controller will work cross-functionally to ensure strong teamwork between the Accounting and Operations teams. This position will provide both financial and operational analysis of the EA Area including monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and assistance in the annual budgeting process.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Manage the EA Accounting Team (7 direct reports) in continuous pursuit of process improvements and compliance with US GAAP
  • Ensure monthly accounting books are closed for the EA Area
  • Ensure accurate and timely facilitation of the A/R and A/P functions for the EA Area
  • Review close documents and reports, including B/S Account Reconciliations, ensuring quality, accuracy and compliance with both US GAAP and regional statutory regulations
  • Ensure all Regional Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control are accurately completed and appropriately documented
  • Provide the Executive Team with all analytics, both financial and operational, required to manage and grow the business
  • Work directly with the Executive Team to facilitate our annual budget process including developing budget methodologies and assumptions, completing budget templates and presenting to the Executive Team
  • Work directly with Department Heads and Executive Team to facilitate our monthly forecast process, a more condensed version of our annual budget process
  • Facilitate integration plans related to future acquisitions or regional consolidations including integration of accounting teams and conversion of different accounting systems
  • Serve as liaison between the EA Accounting Team and our external auditors for interim and year-end testing procedures
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy all local tax filings, statutory reporting and required audits
    What you’ll need

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field; Master’s degree a plus
  • C.P.A. License (or local equivalent) is a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum eight (8) years hands-on experience in finance and accounting functions
  • Close the Books and Management experience required
  • Experience working cross-functionally including working directly with Operations, Sales and Executive Management
  • Experience in a Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must speak fluent English
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Applications; Excel, Word and PowerPoint a MUST HAVE
  • Hands-on knowledge of financial and accounting software
  • Great interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to manage time in coordination with FA’s located around this globe
  • Candidate should be eager to learn and develop their financial reporting and analytical skills as well as learn the operational side of this growing business
  • Candidate should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, continuously growing and evolving environment
