Description:

SUMMARY

The controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Also responsible for cash management and risk management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS SUMMARY:

  • Standard Cost Accounting system working knowledge
  • General Accounting Principles
  • Financial Reporting with Intercompany Elimination experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Plex (preferred)
  • Ability to work well under pressure with various departments and customer contacts
  • Strategic thinker - able to identify critical and long range opportunities
  • Must be able to make timely decisions, set priorities, and execute plan to meet customer and team commitments
  • Able to maintain confidentiality. Impeccable integrity; the ability to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business and committed to ongoing education
  • Minimum of 3 years in Controller/Leadership role in a high volume manufacturing environment

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, including an orderly accounting filing system
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants; communicate with bank partners as needed
  • Issue timely, complete and accurate financial statements
  • Manage the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Maintain Construction in Progress and Fixed Assets files
  • Maintain Standard Cost System in Plex
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments and pricing decisions
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner with all reasonable discounts taken
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed on time
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Hire, train and mentor supporting staff
