Join our Rail UK team as a Controller of Site Safety/Supervisor and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you. The role is based out of our site in Swindon.
As a COSS/Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the work teams in a variety of civils disciplines, within the western route. You will travel to various sites day-to-day to oversee reactive maintenance projects along the rail infrastructure. You will work closely with sub-agents and other supervisors to ensure that all work is completed safely, on schedule and to the highest standards of quality.
What you’ll be doing
As a COSS/Supervisor, you will have the following accountabilities:
- Ensuring that works is executed and delivered in a safe manner to the high quality and in line with the clients expectations (on-site level). This will be over a portfolio of work spanning:
- Drainage, Earthwork and Structure schemes over the Great Western Network.
- Managing a multi-skilled team of direct & agency labour and specialist subcontractors;
- Ensuring good documentation and record keeping is kept on site and relayed to the General Foreman/Agent;
- Providing good quality briefings of the TBS /WPP/COSS Briefing at the start of each shift to all workforce & ensure understanding by all;
- Monitoring performance against production targets and report against this;
- Understanding contract conditions with Client and Suppliers;
- Recognising variations to contracts and process this accordingly;
- Being responsible for the safety performance at site level including planning HSQE into work activities and ensure adequate resources are available to carry out the operations;
- Leading by example & ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Personal Track Safety (PTS);
- Demonstrable experience in both Civils and Rail;
- Good teamwork & interpersonal skills;
- A hardworking and adaptable approach;
- COSS/ES competencies;
- First aid qualification;
- Full UK driving licence;
- Good knowledge of SSOW planning and implementation (preferable);
- SSSTS (preferable).
