Description:
The Controller is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records to monitor the organization’s assets, liabilities, profits, losses, taxes, and other key financial activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Solid knowledge of general financial accounting principles.
Familiarity with and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Ability to prepare accurate tax reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:
Perform general financial accounting and related tasks.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger.
Manage coding of invoices, account setup, reconciliation, and monthly book closures.
Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address bank inquiries.
Oversee reconciliation of accounts including cash disbursements, payroll, and customer accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
Verify and process payments for accounts payable, ensuring appropriate account charges.
Assist external auditors by providing necessary documentation for annual audits.
File tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and update accounting systems, recommending improvements.
Stay updated on accounting practices and procedures.
Assist in compiling operational procedures.
Handle additional related tasks as needed.
Supervise the accounting team and oversee the annual financial and workers’ compensation audits.
Process bi-weekly payroll.
Support the preparation of the annual budget.
