Robert Half is in search for a Senior Accountant/ Controller. The Sr. Accountant / Controller will be responsible for all accounting duties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash posting, payroll, month end journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in accounting.
Five years or more experience in all aspects of accounting.
CPA preferred but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
Perform all day to day accounting for the company complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
Produce periodic financial reports.
Provide comprehensive updates to management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate financial and operating performance data.
Produce budgets and forecasts; report variances with relevant analysis.
Work with external auditors and tax preparers to provide needed information and support their activities.
Support compliance activities for maritime and other regulations.
Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

CERTAIN SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Accounts Payable – Process invoices and payments through Bill.com, credit applications for new vendors, manage corporate credit cards through Bill Spend and Expense, and annual 1099s.
Accounts Receivable - Collections, monthly reconciliations and quarterly reporting.
Payroll - Process semi-monthly using QB Online Payroll, 401K, union dues, health deductions, and tax withholdings and payments, new hires and terminations, vacation accruals, and workers compensation reporting.
Cash management including daily cash posting and monthly bank reconciliations.
Month-end processes including month end accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Miscellaneous local tax requirements.
Insurance renewal applications.
Required Skills / Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time management and self-motivation skills.
Excellent in all aspects of accounting and tax related matters.
Excellent with QuickBooks, Excel, and Google workspace products.
Experience with Bill.com and Helm maritime software platform a plus.
