Description:
New York City non profit organization is hiring a Controller to their team. They are in the office 4 days a week so are seeking locally based candidates only. This is the no 1 Accounting/Finance individual for the organization and reports into the Executive Director.
As a Controller, you will be responsible for handling a variety of tasks related to financial management, government and private grants, and auditing. This role is integral to the functioning of our non-profit organization, and we are looking for someone who can ensure the accurate and efficient management of our financial resources.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the month-end close process and ensuring all financial statements are accurate and prepared in a timely manner
- Managing and maintaining the organization’s CPA designation and ensuring all financial practices align with CPA standards
- Handling government and private grants, including the application, management, and reporting processes
- Preparing and presenting audited financial statements to stakeholders
- Coordinating the annual external audit process and ensuring all documentation is prepared and organized
- Managing the OMB A-133 audit process and ensuring compliance with all requirements
- Ensuring all financial operations align with the organization’s mission and goals
- Identifying and implementing strategies for financial efficiency and improvement
- Regularly reviewing and updating financial policies and procedures
- Collaborating with other members of the financial team to ensure cohesive operations.

- Accounting/Finance Degree
- Must hold a CPA Designation
- 15+ year Accounting/Finance experience
- 5+ years in an CFO/Deputy CFO/Controller or Assistant Controller capacity
