Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, cash management, banking, investments, accounts payable/receivable, donations, and grant funding.
Develop, document, implement, and maintain accounting and financial procedures and policies.
Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
Reconcile all asset and liability accounts on a monthly basis.
Maintain payroll and accrual accounting.
Coordinate year-end financial statement audits and 401(k) audits, providing comprehensive support to auditors.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, offering professional development and guidance.
Continuously monitor and upgrade accounting systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Prepare and review year-to-date departmental budget reports and communicate with department heads monthly.
Collaborate with the COO and CEO on strategic financial planning for both ongoing and new initiatives.
Lead data collection and assist the COO with annual budget preparation.
Analyze financial data, prepare comprehensive reports, and generate financial projections.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (CPA preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB principles, and government accounting policies.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Self-motivated with the ability to set and juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and superior customer service.
Patient, flexible, and adaptable in working with diverse constituencies.
Creative problem-solver with a proactive approach to process improvements and identifying opportunities.
5+ years of experience in a senior financial position, preferably in a complex nonprofit organization with multiple funding sources.
Experience with nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and reporting.
Familiarity with ERP platforms
