Description:
We are in search of a Controller to join our team based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements, and maintaining financial records. You will also be involved in financial reporting, cash management, and payroll management, contributing to both short- and long-term operational strategies to support our growth.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the general ledger and accounting functions, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls and guidelines to protect the company’s assets and ensure accurate reporting
- Manage the company’s cash flow, including forecasting and implementing strong cash control policies
- Drive payroll efficiency through innovative process improvements
- Contribute to the development of both short- and long-term operational strategies to support the company’s growth
- Document and maintain a system of accounting policies and procedures
- Design and manage the accounting department’s organizational structure to meet departmental goals
- Lead and manage the accounting team, fostering a positive work environment and supporting professional growth
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate annual audits
- Monitor debt levels and ensure compliance with debt covenants
- Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings.
- Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
- Proficient in using Crystal Reports
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting functions and principles
- Demonstrated experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Skilled in auditing financial documents and procedures
- Experience in budget processes, including planning, coordinating, and maintaining budgets
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field is preferred
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with financial software and advanced proficiency in MS Excel
- Detail-oriented and able to perform in a fast-paced work environment.
