Description:
Our client in Houston, TX is looking to add a Controller to their team to support some exciting growth! The Controller will play a key role in managing and supervising financial, accounting, and audit operations. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP Accounting, inventory accounting, and process implementation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of strategic initiatives, including financial review, audit readiness, and building process and reporting structures.
This role will initially be 1-2 days/week in office and moving to 3 days/week in 2025! Very flexible on schedule and open depending on candidate’s situation.
CONTROLLER EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in a Manager/Controllership capacity
- Process implementation and improvement experience
- Inventory Accounting experience - Need to streamline inventory procedures to ensure accuracy
- Must have a proven track record in Audit Prep
- Proficiency in GAAP Accounting is essential
- Must be skilled in Financial Statement Preparation
- Ability to prepare opening balance sheets as necessary

Responsibilities:
- Develop and supervise the process for accurate reporting of inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Lead the monthly close-out process and ensure GAAP accrual processes are followed
- Oversee purchase price accounting and manage opening balance sheet efforts
- Coordinate tax compliance and reporting procedures
- Review and optimize the field ticketing process to enhance efficiency
- Conduct financial reviews for year-end projections and future planning
- Prepare and support audit readiness for future financial reviews
- Develop process and reporting structures for segment-level profitability insights
- Conduct inventory audits and maintain inventory controls
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP accounting standards.
