Description:

Robert Half is partnering with an engineering consulting firm in NYC, working with a team dedicated to innovative solutions and sustainable development. The firm specializes in consulting for government agencies, bringing a high level of technical expertise to impactful projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial aspects of our firm, including accounting, finance, payroll, and taxes. This role is essential for maintaining our financial health and ensuring compliance with government regulations. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in government contracting, capable of managing daily financial operations, and comfortable collaborating with external CPA firms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
10+ years of experience in accounting/finance roles, with experience in government contracting preferred.
Solid understanding of GAAP and relevant government regulations.
Proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Excel.
Experience working with external CPA firms and handling tax compliance.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting functions, including AP, AR, GL, and month-end close processes.
Manage payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Handle all aspects of tax compliance, including preparation and filing of required tax documents.
Review and manage contracts, particularly government contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Partner with an external CPA firm for tax planning, audit preparation, and financial reporting.
Prepare financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into the company’s financial health.
Monitor cash flow, revenue projections, and budget variances.
Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
