Description:
We are seeking a Controller to join our team in the healthcare and social assistance industry, located in Harwichport, Massachusetts. The Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the financial policies and procedures, including revenue and expenditure, and ensuring the protection of assets. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities such as budgeting, maintaining financial records, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
Responsibilities:
- Establish an integrated financial plan of operation, compatible with strategic and operating plans, in collaboration with the team.
- Direct staff to coordinate and control financial activities within the accounting department.
- Review, interpret, analyze, and communicate financial reports and data to management using financial ratios and other data for key indicators of financial position.
- Prepare finance reporting packages for review.
- Ensure timely, accurate and complete annual operating and capital budget preparations, including budget preparation and application.
- Monitor expenses and work with program and department managers to identify and help resolve budget discrepancies.
- Monitor and report on cash reserves to meet the organization’s objectives for liquidity and capital expenditures.
- Develop an operating budget and complete accurate financial statements in a timely manner.
- Develop the budgeting process through education of all department managers on financial issues affecting their budgets.
- Ensure that the financial records of the organization are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work with the accounting team to prepare year-end audit schedules and account reconciliations.
- Ensure that the organization’s internal control systems are adequate and appropriate to ensure the integrity of financial information and the security of the organization’s assets.
- Prepare cash projections and operating cash requirements for cash management purposes.
- Direct the Accounting Department to ensure that staffing in the finance department is appropriate and adequate to meet evolving organizational needs.
Bachelor’s degree, or 10 years related accounting and finance experience required.
Masters and/or CPA preferred.
10 years related financial management.
Demonstrated experience in or knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers and government grants management policies preferred (federal and state).
In lieu of FQHC experience, two years of experience in and/or knowledge of financial management practices in a healthcare setting (hospital, private practice, community-based mental health agency)
Experience in managing a small team
Success in maximizing efficiency and improving customer service of a small finance team in a growing organization.
Strong financial management skills-experience in maintaining the financial viability of an organization with multiple and shifting funding streams and in collaborating with CFO and Board to develop long-range financial goals.
Ability to build productive relationships across the broad spectrum of persons important to the success of OCHS-board, staff, government officials, provider partners, funders and donors.
Experience with Paycom helpful
Proficiency in computer skills including NetSuite, Outlook, Microsoft office etc.
Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
