Job Description
We are searching for a Controller to join our finance team.
As Controller, with Smit Lamnalco, you will become part of an inspiring international team and will be monitoring the day-to-day financial administration of a few complex and comprehensive contracts and/or entities (mainly in Africa & Europe) including the monthly closing, and provision of accurate management information on actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
Your role will include:
- Execute the financial administration (GL) for one or more assigned contracts/entities.
- Act as right hand for the local Operational Manager and deliver financial support, coordinate the financial agenda and follow-up on financial matters.
- Run the monthly closing process, submit monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, movement schedules) and management reports (analysis).
- Prepare and submit budgets and forecasts.
- Compose and submit tax-filings (WHT, CIT, Dividend Tax, VAT, Payroll Tax etc.) in compliance with local legislation for countries in Africa. You will receive support by a local Finance Officer.
- Participate in internal and external (statutory and tax) audits.
- Support on foreign payments, customs duty process and ensure a proper filing of relevant documents.
- Participate in Finance Projects and contribute to the development and optimization of financial processes.
- Assist the Regional Business Controller in operational issues and manage “special projects” independently.
Qualifications
Your background:
- A bachelor’s degree in accountancy or finance
- 4 to 5 years’ experience, or more, in a similar role
- Experience in an international setting (foreign legal entities and the complexity involved with that)
- Experience with multiple types of taxation like: WHT / VAT / Corporate Tax / Payroll Taxes / Deferred Tax
- Fluent (verbal and written) in English
- Analytical skills, critical, team player, hands-on, self-starting, pragmatic and able to work with different cultures
- Work permit to work in the Netherlands.
