Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA designation preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, taxation laws, and financial regulations.
  • Proven experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively interact with diverse teams, including production, sales, and branch personnel.
  • Willingness to travel to branches in Canada and the U.S.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions to ensure financial stability and liquidity.
  • Maintain corporate banking relationships and oversee treasury management activities.

Cost Accounting & Analysis:

  • Manage cost accounting processes, including standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis.
  • Lead company-wide cost and pricing schedule updates.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify cost efficiencies and improve profitability.
  • Provide financial insights into pricing strategies, operational efficiencies, and product profitability.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws, including GST/HST, corporate taxes, and payroll taxes.
  • Prepare for and manage external audits, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided.
  • Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Periodically review financial controls and procedures at branch locations (travel required).

ERP Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Implement, maintain, and support relevant ERP system modules.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in financial operations and reporting.
  • Analyze factory, product, and other cost information to recommend operational and financial improvements.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with branch accountants and other departments to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration and strategic planning activities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and recommend corrective actions for spending, costs, and variances.
  • Assure timely delivery of financial and management reports.
  • Participate in company-wide strategic planning and MRP group activities.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.
