Estimated Pay Range: $72,100 (minimum) $90,100 (midpoint) $108,000 (maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you are interested in becoming an Controls Engineer at Woodward, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
This Controls Engineer Level 1 position will be responsible for low complexity automation systems and equipment. In this role, a candidate will work with the engineering team to identify and implement opportunities for converting manual tasks into automated sequences to be performed by a standalone controller, PLC, computer, or robot.

What you will be doing…

  • Designs, supports and tests low complexity controls and automation systems and equipment. Ensures designs meet usability and supportability criteria.
  • Programming PLC’s using ladder logic to control automated systems
  • General knowledge and use of SCADA systems and Python scripting
  • Use of data acquisition hardware (DAQ) and communication protocols to connect to peripheral machinery
  • Programming and implementation of smart cameras and vision sensors for automated inspection
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly of automation systems
  • Implementation of safety circuits and safety hardware
  • Identifying new equipment for automated systems and developing the communications strategy
  • Supports the manufacturing floor for any controls related questions
  • May provide repair and maintenance support of controls systems
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and 3D models
  • Connecting smart tools and automated systems into Ignition based interfaces
  • General knowledge and use of HMIs
  • General knowledge of communication protocol, database and networking.
  • General knowledge and use of robotics, vision systems, linear actuators, servos, VFDs, motion control, motor control

What we are looking for…

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical/science or international equivalent required
  • General Six Sigma knowledge; Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
