SPM has assembled a young and talented team that thrives in new technology development, prototyping, plastics joining, finishing and assembly applications. We need like-minded, driven individuals looking for a challenge to join our Controls Department to program and commission new and existing equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Generate PLC and HMI programs
  • Generate and teach robot programs
  • Set up vision systems
  • Startup machine and troubleshoot all aspects of control system
  • Work with other departments toward a design plan for successful completion of a project
  • Travel to end user for on-site machine start-up and commissioning
  • Ensure customer satisfaction of the control system

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Technologist from accredited University/College required
  • Must have a continued desire to learn new technologies
  • Specific knowledge/skills:
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens/Allen Bradley).
  • HMI programming (Siemens/Allen Bradley).
  • Robot setup, and programming/teaching (Fanuc/ABB/Nachi).
  • Vision programming (Keyence/Cognex).
  • Familiarity with special purpose machine function and set up.
  • Good working knowledge of Engineering and Industry Standards.
  • Controls design experience considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills a requirement.
  • Must be able to travel both nationally and internationally as needed.
  • 3+ years relevant experience required.
