Larga is a residence for guests travelling from the NWT and Nunavut while tending to their medical needs. *Position Overview: *
We are seeking a creative, innovative and experienced Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills and demonstrate passion in the kitchen.

*Key Responsibilities: *

  • Work as a team to ensure three nutritious meals are provided daily and that any dietary restrictions are considered.
  • Prepare daily/weekly menus
  • Make meals completely from scratch whenever possible
  • Ensures that special meals are available as required, soft foods, salt free, clear fluids for clients who require them. Be aware and adhere to restrictions related to allergies.
  • Monitor supplies and notify kitchen supervisor when orders are needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and presentable dining area and kitchen for the comfort of guests.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of any administrative areas;
  • Assist supervisor in corrective actions identified through regular kitchen inspections (internal and external).
  • Inventory Control and Management; order supplies as needed, receive stock and check for completeness of orders.
  • Time sheets are to be completed and submitted as per Larga policy.
  • Coordinates staff/safety meetings, in supervisors’ absence.
  • Review and log daily entries in the communication book for efficiency of shifts change.
  • Mentors/trains department staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Support dining room attendant duties as required.
  • Advise department supervisor of any faulty equipment or damage to buildings/furniture. Coordinate minor maintenance items as needed and only if qualified.
  • Assist clients as needed, be helpful if they have questions and help direct them to the appropriate individual if they need assistance.
  • Perform other duties as required, Larga Ltd. policies and procedures must be adhered to when completing all responsibilities.

*Requirements: *

  • Must have 2 years previous kitchen experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, well organized and able to prioritize workload
  • Able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
