BGC Okanagan is hiring a cook for our successful new FACT (Families and Communities Together) Program. The FACT cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of large meals for participants. The FACT Cook will work closely with the program team to provide high-quality dining experiences that support the program’s goals of community building and family engagement. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving the meals as well as cleaning up afterward. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization and time management skills. This position plays a vital role in our community serving children and families meals to help with food security. This is a term position starting September 2024 until March 14, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) plus years of experience catering for large groups (75 - 100 people)
- Food Safe Certification
- Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check
Hours: 12 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $25.75 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Prepares meals from a set menu with recipes supplied weekly.
- Working within public health best practices around food preparation, sanitation, and safety.
- Prepping the ingredients for cooking.
- Prepare the weekly shopping list.
- Understanding and cooking to meet the needs of those with dietary restrictions.
- Must be organized with time-sensitive planning to ensure food is out in a timely manner, and restocking buffet as needed with fresh food.
- Clean and sanitize the kitchen and buffet area after food service.
- Performs other related duties as required.
