How you make a difference:
The Cook works in a team to prepare nutritious meals for patients and staff while also ensuring that food is stored, prepared, and served safely. They maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen throughout their shift and communicate important information to their supervisor. The Cook plays a crucial role in providing quality meals for patients and staff in the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares menu items according to appropriate food recipes and follows established menu schedule.
- Ensures equipment is in proper working order, reports equipment repairs immediately, and follows proper sanitation practices.
- Ensures safe food handling practices to prevent cross-contamination and maintains a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Stocks and rotates supplies, ensures items needed to meet daily menu requirements are available, and completes production records and temperatures for foods.
- Adheres to personal hygiene and infection control policies, and provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with patients’ cultural diversity and developmental needs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- One (1) year cooking experience required. Experience in commercial, military or other institutional setting preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must be certified through HACCP or ServSafe Food Safety Sanitation Course or must obtain certification within three (3) months of employment.
