Description:

This is a temporary 12-month contract position with the possibility of extension (22.5 hours/week)

Reporting to the Communications Assistant Manager, The Digital Communications Coordinator must support the Communications team in daily brand management. This position
will assist the communications team with some of the day-to-day operations of our social media channels, newsletter development, website blogging and development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, communications or public relations is preferred. An appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 1-2 years’ experience with communications, social media management, or public relations
  • Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
  • Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating social media content.
  • Interviewing for and writing blog content about programs and services.
  • Developing and creating content for our newsletter.
  • May write media releases, advisories, statements, etc., as required.
  • Assist in internal communication endeavors.
  • Other duties as required
  • BSCS is more than a workplace. This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
