Position Summary:
As the Gordon Food Service supplier of smallwares and equipment, United Trimen is innovating in this space and looking for a driven, entrepreneurial and analytical Merchandising Coordinator. The position will report to the Merchandising Supervisor. As a Merchandising Coordinator for smallwares and equipment, you will provide insight and support in executing the strategies of the Merchandising Team in alignment with customer needs, divisional objectives, and United Trimen merchandising strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the strategies and execution of key initiatives driven by the Merchandising Supervisor.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with the Divisional Sales, National Marketing, National Supply Chain, National Pricing, Home Office MMSC teams and external partners.
  • Understands, requests, builds and analyzes pertinent reports to drive effective decision-making.
  • Engages with vendors and assists with regional vendor onboarding activities
  • Understanding the key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics for both GFS and United Trimen
  • Contributes to the attainment of a national category plan for sales, net margin and brand penetration
  • Manages the product life cycle for items across the category
  • Help develop marketing materials and tools to support United Trimen and GFS sales team in growing sales
  • Manage product launches, new vendors, conversion and stock status of items at United Trimen and GFS
  • Identify areas to improve processes, increase accuracy or reduce labor
  • Utilizes business reporting to identify and track return on investment for campaigns and events
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, training, supplier visits, etc. Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
  • Leverages internal and external category data and customer insights to inform decision‐making.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General equivalent Degree. Bachelor degree in Business Administration or Marketing preferred

  • Understanding of principles of food service industry, vendors, products, cost, freight and sourcing
  • Must have strong mathematical skills and ability to calculate figures such as averages, proportions, percentages, etc.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Google spreadsheets, word processing, email, and internet software applications, and the ability to learn new software related to the role.
  • Must have good customer service and time management skills.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write routine reports and electronic correspondence.
  • Must have the ability to speak effectively with internal customers, suppliers and colleagues on the phone and face to face.
  • Must have good time management, attention to detail and organizational skills and accept responsibility for own actions
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks, follow through on commitments and react well under pressure and to fluctuations in workload.
  • Some travel may be required.
