Description:
SALARY: FROM $100,523 TO $125,717 YEARLY BASED ON EXPERIENCE
The Regional Coordinator role reports to the Manager and Director and supports the portfolio inclusive of
Nipissing Specialized Geriatric Services (i.e. Behavioural Supports Ontario, Seniors’ Mental Health,
Specialized Geriatric Clinic) and North East Behavioural Supports Ontario (NE BSO). The Coordinator is
responsible for supporting day to day clinical operations, system leadership and evolving program
development alongside regional partners representing the priority needs of older adults/care partners
living with complex and chronic geriatric medical, mental health and behavioural health conditions.
EDUCATION
Minimum four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization within a health related field from an
accredited university
Current certificate of registration in good standing with an applicable regulatory college is
required.
Certification in mental health and/or gerontology an asset
CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as a health professional in a health care
environment with a focus on older adults
Minimum of two (2) years working in a leadership/supervisory role, preferably in a health care
environment
Certificates in the following program/organizational core competencies: PIECES; DementiAbility;
Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA); Trauma Informed Care; and Six Core Strategies required
Current Non-Violent Crisis intervention (NVCI) certificate required
Demonstrated knowledge to practice in the management complex and chronic geriatric, mental
health and behavioural health conditions/syndromes and their effects on care partners.
Demonstrated knowledge of Specialized Geriatric Services across the care continuum including
primary care, specialty care and community support services (e.g. Alzheimer’s society, Ontario
Health at Home).
Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated excellence in clinical-reasoning, critical thinking skills, assessment,
documentation, intervention and care planning skills required
Demonstrated ability to interact with physicians and other healthcare providers in a collaborative,
professional, intelligent, and effective manner required
Strong leadership, communication, team building and creative problem solving skills required
Demonstrated cultural awareness and competencies in working with patients and care partners
from diverse backgrounds required
Experience with change management, quality improvement and innovation required
Proficient computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and patient
information systems required
Understanding of multiple regulated health professions and associated Acts required
Familiarity with collective agreements, scheduling required
Demonstrated time management, prioritization and organizational skills required
Demonstrated commitment to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events
required
Must demonstrate good attendance required
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a
requirement
