JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Clinical Director of Cardiac Cath Lab, the Assistant Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the lab, collaborating with anesthesia, physician leadership, and Cardiac Cath Nursing Leadership. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to improve efficiency and establish and achieve quality and safety metrics. Able to scrub and monitor cases. Attends departmental meetings. Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate assignments within the department. Adjusts staffing and can prioritize cases/emergencies/add-on to meet patient and unit needs. Ensures all scheduled and add-on procedures have a completed electronic record and documents appropriately in the electronic chart as needed. Organizes and administers individualized age-specific professional care to patients in the procedure rooms. Participate in staff orientation in relation to appropriate documentation and training. Participates in unit performance improvement evaluation initiatives. Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients. Practices an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care. Ensure that [unit/department/division] is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN)
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a Cardiac Catheter Lab setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Goal and outcome oriented
- Demonstrated leadership and/or Charge Nurse experience
- Successful completion of all required Orientation Programs
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Active and current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required via America Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full Time
- Day shift, 6:00A-7:00P
- On-call is required
Essential Functions:
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
- The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e., damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
- The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
