POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction, the Coordinator, Staff Relations and Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) works independently to provide a range of Division of University Advancement (DUA) HR services for the Office of the COO in the areas of recruitment, job description drafting and updates, managing onboarding/offboarding programs, special projects, and office administration. Key responsibilities include providing front-line advice and information to staff regarding employment policies and collective agreement provisions; coordinating recruitment activities for USW, PM and AP positions; assisting with the development and implementation of proactive recruitment strategies; using discretion to handle very confidential information in an appropriate manner and to refer more complex queries as appropriate; managing in-person inquiries; providing project management support to onboarding/offboarding for Advancement Services team; provides administrative support to the COO and Manager, Staff Relations; provides administrative support to the Advancement EDI Community Council and maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and of University policies and procedures.
EDUCATION:
- University degree in a relevant discipline, plus completion of related professional development courses in pursuit of CHRP designation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two to three (2-3) years’ progressive human resources experience, preferably with experience in the areas of: recruitment, equity and diversity, collective agreement interpretation, training and development.
- Knowledge of and experience using an on-line recruitment system and experience in sourcing candidates essential, preferably experience with using social media recruitment tools.
- Experience screening resumes and the principles of behavioral based interviewing.
SKILLS:
- Keyboarding skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Experience with Visio an asset.
- Experience with HRIS an asset.
