ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in education or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years experience working in student academic success advising student athletes in a University or similar academic setting
  • A solid understanding of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U SPORTS eligibility rules required
  • Familiarity with University of Toronto academic rules, regulations, and student support resources on all 3 campuses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse group of students and University colleagues
  • Knowledge in the practical application of student development theory and academic learning strategies
  • Good problem solving, multi tasking and organization skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation and ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced diverse environment

Responsibilities:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Implementing plans and process improvements for programs and service activity
  • Creating and updating students records maintaining confidentiality of information. Processing all academic conflict letters
  • Promoting departmental events and programs to students and delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials and editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and handbook.
  • Liaising with various stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure consistent administration procedures are followed.
  • Determining the logistical details and activities for events and/or programming, coordinating the schedule for programs and event calendar and handling expenses for events. This includes coordinating admission related questions, materials and meetings with prospective students/recruits
  • Directing the activities of casual staff and submit time sheets for data processing
  • Keeping well informed on student service programs across all three campus, and providing advice/guidance as it relates to athletic eligibility
