Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, Surgical Access, the Coordinator, Surgical Systems works with Surgical Services servicing VIHA and its related stakeholders by supporting the effective utilization and quality of surgical data used within the health authority and related provincial and national repositories. The Coordinator serves as the source of Surgical Patient Registry (SPR) expertise within the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) and ensures its integration with surgical systems and databases.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a baccalaureate degree in Health Information Science, Computer Science, Commerce, or Business Administration and five (5) years’ relevant experience in the health care field.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Familiarity with Operating Room Scheduling Office System (ORSOS), SPR, surgical booking processes, and data related to surgery an asset.
- Proven consistent ability to keep up with new technologies as they are introduced to the workplace.
- Intermediate system implementation skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to write high-quality technical and business documentation.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Ability to organize workload and priorities.
