Description:

Rover – Bales Transfer Station
Location: 112 Bales Dr E, Sharon, Ontario
Position Type: Full-time Permanent - Day Shift
Reporting: Facility Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 5:00pm

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent customer service is a must.
  • Knowledge of equipment and site operations is an asset.
  • Previous experience operating a Compactor and Weigh Scales will be preferential.
  • Must be a team player and function safely around heavy equipment.
  • Extended hours, including weekends and holidays are mandatory.
  • Must follow all Miller Waste Safety policy’s & procedures.

Responsibilities:

In the position of Rover, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Complete understanding of the required Hand Signals for spotting vehicles
  • Hook up trailers to the Compactors.
  • Operate Compactor.
  • Operate Weigh Scales.
  • Ensure that the entire outside grounds and the facility inside are clean and organized.
  • Inspect and remove obvious contamination from loads.
  • Punctual with excellent attendance.
  • Ensure you aware of and always work within MWS’s safety guidelines.
  • Seasonal property maintenance (i.e. snow shovelling, sweeping, litter cleanup).
  • Perform and conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment/machinery you are certified on.
  • Inspecting the workplace for hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Liaise with supervisors, drivers, haulers, contractors in a professional manner.
  • You will be required to fill in and/or assist other positions as required. This includes, but limited to, staff vacations, sick days, weekend work, or any other daily operational responsibilities you have been trained for.
  • Highly developed organizational and team building skills.
  • Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is worn .
  • Providing exceptional customer service.
  • The weighing of vehicles IN and OUT at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy of tickets and cash transactions.
  • You will perform visual inspections of loads at scale, (only) for contamination purposes, as well as direct traffic to proper drop off locations.
  • You will be required to do Cash, Debit and credit card transactions.
  • You will review all tickets, cash register and global payments receipts to ensure they are correct and assist with all paperwork requirements, answer telephone enquiries, and direct calls.
  • Complete all daily production reports.
  • Have the necessary knowledge and practical skills to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), strong PC based systems knowledge with excellent keyboarding skills.
  • Must possess excellent entrepreneurial, verbal and written communication and excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with attention to details.
